Calling Marconi

"With total justification Guglielmo Marconi is called the pioneer of wireless, freeing communications from the constraints imposed by fixed cable and visible distance. Conquering distance, he facilitated commercial and mass communication, bringing all parts of the world closer together." When Marconi died on July 20th, 1937 wireless stations around the world were silent for a day in tribute to what the man had accomplished. For an instant, the noise in the ether ceased.
